About Us

Community Links with Cambodia (CLC Melbourne) is a community group based in Melbourne, Australia, supporting community development in Cambodia.

Since its inception in 2001, CLC Melbourne has joined with the Children and Life Association (CLA Cambodia) to support sustainable development for the poorest people in Prey Veng Province, south east Cambodia. CLA Cambodia is a child rights non-government organisation with holistic programs that support the child, the family and the village.

From 2008, CLC has focused on Mesang’s Trorkeat Village supporting 120 children and 60 families through the Trokeat School Program. Based on its success, this program is now being used as a model to help CLC extend its reach to other villages throughout Mesang District.

The Mesang Village Development Project operates entirely on money raised by CLC in Australia, which funds programs implemented by CLA.

Our Purpose

CLC Melbourne partners with CLA Cambodia to respond to identified needs and work towards improving the livelihood of Cambodian children, families and their communities through facilitating better sanitation, safer water, adequate nutrition and increased educational resources.

Our Objectives

  • To raise a minimum of $20,000 per annum for the Mesang Village Development Program
  • To provide strategic support to CLA
  • To expand the membership of CLC to increase the level of resourcing for initiatives.
  • To continue raising awareness about the hardships and injustice for Cambodian people and the constructive ways Cambodian people are responding to international support

Our Activities

CLC Melbourne builds networks with people and organisations to make a difference to the lives of children and families in Cambodia.

CLC Melbourne raises funds through these networks of friends, colleagues and families. All funds raised go directly to the CLC Program, delivered on the ground by CLA Cambodia. There is no expenditure on marketing or advertising. CLC’s executive team administers CLC Melbourne at the executive team members’ own cost. In the financial year 2009-2010, CLC Melbourne transferred $19, 000 to CLA Cambodia for the CLC Program.

CLC Melbourne has over 100 members and associates and is actively seeking new members.
